Minutes

(Jon explains purpose of this phone call. The all-member Release Review phone call is a required step in our Development Process before specifications can be approved. The Release Review phone call allows for members to raise issues and for open discussion of those issues. One of the reasons for this formal process was provide notification to members about specifications nearing completion so that they can address intellectual property concerns.)

Jon: Does anyone have any issues that they want to discuss?

Howard: I have a concern about infinite loop processing requiring exceptions, but now that I think about it some more, it's not an issue.

Jon: You mean nevermind?

Howard: Yes

Jon: Anyone have any issues?

(none)

Jon: I think we have some wordsmithing issues to address around our pub/sub guidelines. Bertrand pointed out how one of the proposed new sentences conflicts with some other guidelines we have written. As I mentioned in an email yesterday, we seem to be in agreement, but we just need to get the words right. Therefore, what I propose is as follows: (1) I will propose modified sentences for the spec, (2) We can discuss at the Interop phone call on Wednesday. (3) Once the core people who have been discussing the guidelines appear to agree, then do an email +1/-1 vote within the Interop WG for submitting the spec to member voting, (4) Member voting, (5) Steering Committee voting. What do you think?

Various: Sounds good

Matthias: I wanted to point out that I approve the modification Jon has done to my proposed new sentence. His version is better.

Jon: Any objections to the proposed plan?

(no objections)

(thanks and goodbyes)
