We use the term "field" (consistently with .NET terminology) for members that are not functions. We don't use the term "property" because this is reserved for similar entities that are accessed through accessor properties (in our convention, get_foo() and set_foo(value)).
Thanks,
Bertrand

Subject: What's a field in the MS Ajax metadata format?
Hi Bertrand,
I was looking at:
* http://weblogs.asp.net/bleroy/archive/2007/04/23/the-format-for-javascript-doc-comments.aspx
and there is a <field> element. What's a field? The only use of the term "field" in the O'Reilly JavaScript guide has to do with applets.
Thanks.
Jon
